How can a religious person believe in the values of divine laws that God sent down to rectify the conditions of humanity, when reality indicates that they have only achieved their goals for very short historical periods?

The advice of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah to his student Ibn al-Qayyim was that he should not make his heart like a sponge that absorbs doubts, but rather like a solid glass that doubts pass by its exterior without settling within it. The mission of the messengers is to establish proof and guide people to worship God, not to instill faith in their hearts, for God did not burden the prophets with that. God created people as monotheists, but devils lead them astray. God has decreed that among humanity there will be believers and disbelievers, and entry into Paradise will be for fewer numbers than disbelievers. Islam began strange and will return strange, and it is not necessary that all people act upon sound values, because the human soul is unjust and ignorant. Surah (definition) Al-Asr is sufficient for the submissive Muslim, as it summarizes that all humankind is in loss except for those who believe, do righteous deeds, and enjoin one another to truth and patience.
