Does supplication change the divine decree related to provisions, such as money, of what has been predestined for a person?

Supplication (du'a) is a powerful means to attain what is desired and repel what is disliked. It is part of Allah's decree. Just as hunger is satisfied by eating and thirst by drinking, poverty is repelled by striving, working, and supplicating. Ibn al-Qayyim said: "Supplication is one of the most powerful means. If the occurrence of what is supplicated for is decreed to happen through supplication, then it is incorrect to say: 'There is no benefit in supplication,' just as it is not said: 'There is no benefit in eating and drinking and all movements and actions.' There is nothing among means more beneficial than supplication, nor more effective in achieving what is sought."
